What is Thumbs.db And How To Remove Or Delete These Files Permanently

Are you getting annoyed of having thumbs.db files in each folder? Do you thinks thumbs.db virus has affected your system? For all your kind information, thumbs.db is a system file and it’s not a virus. It’s a system generated file found mostly on Windows XP systems. System creates these files in each folder to cache your folder contains. Caching a folder contains will result in faster folder accessing. But since it’s a bit annoying, may will prefer to remove this from their computer. So, here I will tell you the steps to delete or remove all thumbs.db files from your computer permanently.
Remember that thumbs.db files allow you to access your files quickly. Whenever you access a folder with many photographs or files, your system caches the page so that the thumbnail or filmstrip view of that folder will load faster. This hidden system file ensures the faster system file access and don’t show up until you set to view hidden files.

But if you have finally decided to remove this from your computer, follow the below steps.
1. Navigate to Start >> Control Panel >> Folder Options
2. Click on View tab and check Do not cache thumbnails option
3. You are done.

From now on your computer will stop cacheing your folders and as a result you will see no more thumbs.db files. But remember that doing this will take more time to access your files or folders. It does not matter how many times you have accessed a folder in past, each time you open it, it will take it’s own time to gather data and show you the list.
